'O Passo' with Lucas Ciavatta
O Passo is based on a specific gait and oriented by four axles (body, representation, group and culture). It introduced in the rhythm and sound teaching-learning process new concepts like position and musical space and new tools like the gait that gives the method its name, the oral and the body notations and the O Passo graphic notation. ~taken from the O Passo website. In this seminar, we explored the multi-sensory approach to music-making, O Passo. Focusing on the basic human gait, and applying it to song, movement, and drumming, this seminar revolutionized the way that I approach music education. It takes the emphasis off of performance and into process. It further diminishes the barrier between audience and musicians, and creates an entire music-making community.
